In this fascinating lecture, Mark Greene, PhD, explores the scientific, ethical and policy issues arising from the engraftment of human neural stem cells into the brains of nonhuman primates and other animals.

Join us for the Bernard J. Malis Memorial Lecture "Perils and Possibilities of Neural Stem Cell Research - To Graft or Not to Graft?"

Should implanted neural stem cells be used in medical research? Could human neural cells alter the cognitive capacities of non‐human animals, with potential significance for their moral status? If so, how should therapeutic potential be weighed against these broader ethical implications?

A thought‐provoking 45 minute presentation, with time for Q &A!

PCCY Block By Block Party
First annual Block By Block Party sponsored by Public Citizens for Children and Youth will feature 2,000 young Minecrafters building together at USciences as well as STEM-themed festivities and family fun.

The Block by Block Party will be a safe, kid friendly gaming event that uses Minecraft to build STEM skills, involve children in creative constructive play, develop critical thinking skills and encourage collaboration children via an on-line platform and is especially designed for gamers 17 and under.

The Block By Block Party will raise funds for a new grant program for innovative strategies to bring hi-tech learning tools into Philadelphia classrooms as well as support Public Citizens for Children and Youth, celebrating its 37th year of effective child advocacy in the region.

Members of the 2021 Doctor of Pharmacy Class will participate in the annual White Coat Ceremony and will be honored for their commitment to the health profession. Students will receive a white coat symbolizing their dedication to the profession of pharmacy and to the care of others. They will take the Oath of a Pharmacist with their peers as their families and faculty witness. It is an impressive ceremony and an occasion for all of us to reflect upon the overriding mission of the profession of pharmacy and the reason for the existence of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
