SEPTA Summer Work to Impact Commuters
Start Date: 7/12/2017 All Day
End Date: 7/17/2017
Event Description:
Continuing through Monday, July 17, 2017, at 5 am, SEPTA is conducting a nine-day maintenance project that will affect trolley service and close streets on Woodland and Chester Aves. between 38th and 42nd Sts for track renewal.

2017 Trolley Tunnel Blitz

According to the website, “SEPTA forces will work around the clock for nine days, tackling aggressive cleaning and maintenance efforts, completing painting and tile replacement at stations and making critical track and power upgrades as part of the 2017 Trolley Tunnel Blitz.” Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34, & 36 will temporarily divert to 40th and Market Streets. There will be no service in the trolley tunnel during the nine-day shutdown.

Track Renewal

SEPTA in-house forces will be removing and replacing track along Woodland and Chester Aves. The streets will be closed during this work, thought traffic will have access to Woodland Terrace.   Detours around the work site will be in place during the same time span as the 2017 Trolley Blitz. Traffic will be diverted from Woodland and Chester Avenues to Baltimore Avenue (Eastbound at 42nd Street and Westbound at 38th Street). There may be high noise at times and no parking will be permitted in the construction zone.

For those who use SEPTA’s trolley service or who drive to campus along Woodland and Chester Aves., please take these change into consideration when planning your commute to work. For those who park at 4100 Chester or Mayes College, please utilize the main University parking lots when your lots are inaccessible.

For more information, please visit: or call Ebony Edwards, SEPTA Community Relations at 215.580.8363.
